Cook: Honey Roasted Walnut

Honey roasted walnut
Difficulty: 2/5

My mum bought some walnut for me during her trip to Beijing and I find the walnut a bit too bland to my liking so decided to venture out and make some honey roasted walnut instead.... After coating them with honey and roast, it gives the walnut a nice touch... i love it :)

Recipe adapted from:

INGREDIENTS:

1. One cup of walnuts
2. 1/2 cup of honey
3. 1/8 cup of white sugar
4. 1/2 teaspoon of salt
5. 1 cinnamon stick
6.  1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder (omit if you don't want your walnut to have a tinge of spiciness)

METHODS:

1. Heat honey, sugar, salt, cayenne pepper and cinnamon in a small pot over medium heat.
2. Stir well until sugar is dissolved.
3. Add walnut into the mixture, stir to coat the walnut with the mixture evenly.
4. Simmer for 5 minutes or until the syrup is lightly browned.
5. Drain the walnut and discard the cinnamon stick.
6. Place the walnut on a wire rack and roast for 8 minutes in oven preheated at 180 degree celcius or until the nuts have darkened slightly.

Note: After draining the walnut, there will be quite a fair amount of honey leftover and i felt that it is quite a waste so I took some of my almond and dip them in the honey and eat... yummy!
